Set up payment and shipping for Buy Online Pay In Store in WooCommerce

Managed WordPress Ecommerce and Managed WooCommerce Stores pair with GoDaddy Payments to provide flexible buy online pay in store purchasing options. In this article, we'll go over which shipping options are available for this type of service, as well as how to enable selling in person for GoDaddy Payments in the WooCommerce payment settings.

Available shipping methods

A compatible shipping method must be set up before using the Buy Online Pay in Person payment method. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to WordPress.
  2. Go to WooCommerce and click on Settings.
  3. Under the Shipping tab, select Add shipping zone and add the zone for your store.
  4. After you've added a zone, select Add Shipping Method.
  5. Depending on what kind of options you’d like to offer for your customers, you can select one (or all) of the following options from the drop-down menu.

Local Pickup option is a WooCommerce core feature for which we have implemented some extended options. Apart from the main options to set up Title, Tax Status and Cost, you can also set:

  • Checkout description - A short description that the customer will see during checkout.
  • Pickup instructions - Message that the customer will see on the Order received page as well as in the processing order and ready for pickup emails.

Local Pickup Plus

This advanced option allows additional local pickup features.

Note: The Local Pickup Plus extension is included in Managed WordPress Ecommerce and Managed WooCommerce Stores subscriptions.

This is a new shipping method that offers the following options:

  • Checkout Title – This controls the title that the user sees during a checkout.
  • Tax Status – If there’s an extra cost for this shipping method, you can set if this should be taxable or not.
  • Cost – Set up a delivery cost.
  • Minimum order amount total when available – minimal order amount for the local delivery shipping method to become available for a customer.
  • Minimum order total when free – minimal order amount for the local delivery method to be free.
  • Checkout description – The description will be displayed underneath the Local Delivery shipping method name in the Cart and Checkout pages.
  • Order received instructions – Message that the customer will see on the Order received page and the processing order email after checkout.

Enable payment method(s)

To start receiving orders online and allowing your customers to pay in person, you must enable the GoDaddy Payments - Selling in Person payment method.

Note: To set up GoDaddy Payments Selling in Person you need to have Poynt Smart terminal.
  1. Go to WooCommerce and click on Settings.
  2. Select Payments tab and locate the GoDaddy Payments - Selling in Person option.
  3. Click on the Set up.
  4. Fill in the Checkout description and Order received instructions fields.
    Note: Follow the Learn More option to order a Smart Terminal if you don't already have one, and return to this step once you receive it.
  5. Choose which local shipping method this payment method will be accepted for.
  6. Select the box next to Enable Selling In Person to make the payment method active upon saving.
  7. Click on Save changes.
