What type of hosting package did you use? Linux or Windows? IIS is Windows. Apache would be Linux.

Apache HTTPD is the more commonly used. Apache Tomcat is used to deploy your Java Servlets and JSPs. If you're using Java, this is most likely what you'll need.

i think linux but am not sure. where can i find that in my account?

Re: how to check server type for SSL installation?

Go to https://account.godaddy.com/products/#/

Scroll down to "Web Hosting" and click the green arrow beside it. This should list should list all your hosting packages, which will tell you what type of plan you have.

Alternatively, if you have a website up and running, provide me with the web address and I can find out for you.

Re: how to check server type for SSL installation?

upon further reading of the instructions for apache server for installing SSL certificate, i think i'm in over my head, so i'll have to give up on doing this on my own for the time being. thanx anyway!

Re: how to check server type for SSL installation?

From personal experience, I found it much easier to implement via GoDaddy's own offering. However, in the future, I will look into Let's Encrypt (https://letsencrypt.org), which is free. GoDaddy does provide advice on how to install this too, but it's not the easiest thing to implement if you have very little experience.
