I had a office 365 email for a year, but decided not to renew because that person no longer works at the company I do their website. I have deleted the office 365 email, but would like to have email forwarding for that same email in case someone does try to contact the company thru that email... at least for awhile.
When I test the forwarding email, it comes back as
" A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: >>> email@example.com (after RCPT TO): 550 5.4.1 firstname.lastname@example.org]: Recipient address rejected: Access denied [DM3NAM03FT046.eop-NAM03.prod.protection.outlook.com]".
Is it even possible to make an email that was once set up in office365 email essentials into a forwarding email??
You can set it up to forward but it must be an active account
If the emails end the same as another Office 365 account, you may even be able to do something with an alias to process emails for the old address on a current account. I'd check with Support on that possibility.
I hope that helps,
