Did you mean:

Google shows correct URL but wrong (a viagra site?!) page?

A viagra site shows instead of my page. I own and manage the url through Go Daddy. What's going on? Not cool.

All my links work properly but NOT google search.

Anyone else have this problem?

@LStokes,

are you really trying to be clever and selling this stuff because I saw your post before, a few weeks back!!!! Same post.

If not then your site or cpanel has been compromised! I think I gave the same advice too!!

Hi @LStokes

read my reply carefully for answer! As in it looks like your domain has a 'forward' direct to 'limp biscuit' site.

Re: Google shows correct URL but wrong (a viagra site?!) page?

How do I check for these areas? Where is the cpanel? How do I find the troublesome code on my site?

Re: Google shows correct URL but wrong (a viagra site?!) page?

Hi @LStokes,

Firstly do you know if you have cpanel or Plesk? When you set your hosting up you had to make a choice. Cpanel is linux based, Plesk windows based.

When you log in look for the 'my products' link. On domains click manage. You have to then look for something like 'domain forwarding' besides it it should say off. Also sub domains should be be reading 0 unless of course you added one, which I don't think you will have.

If of course it says 'on' to forwarding, then click manage. You would then see the URL of the offending site. Get rid of it and phone support for further advice. You may have only disabled it for the moment if there is a script added to your site.

Do you have a database? If so then this is a common route. MySql injection

note: I was using cpanel as an example of the steps, but I expect little differences in Plesk.

Re: Google shows correct URL but wrong (a viagra site?!) page?

Looked again.

I have cpanel (linux based).

GoDaddy Twitter helped me find the offending files uploaded to my site and I deleted them. I changed all my passwords but still feel my site may be vulnerable.

Turns out someone uploaded a .htacess file with some other php files.

I'm not a professional coder so I'm not sure what else I can do to safe guard access other than changing my passwords.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Re: Google shows correct URL but wrong (a viagra site?!) page?

Thanks so much for mentioning this .htaccess file issue, @LStokes. I found that file and one other PHP file with a name I didn't recognize and with the same date (April 28, 2019) on my server after discovering a weird google search result redirect. I'm also no HTML pro, so I have no idea how it got there. I'll check it again tomorrow to see if deleting those files fixed the issue. I'm using 2-step authentication now for my GoDaddy login, but that doesn't help with the site FTP security which has a maximum of 14 characters in its password.
