HTTP ERROR 500

My site has been down for over 24 hours and I get this message:  HTTP ERROR 500

I can't get in on the WP-admin side of it either.

Re: HTTP ERROR 500

Hi @Bargnhtress. Thanks for being part of GoDaddy Community! A 500 error is a very general error that means there's a problem with the website displaying, but the details aren't readily available. Invalid configuration files, or invalid rules in them, commonly cause 500 errors with hosting accounts. You can try renaming the files (.htaccess for Linux and web.config for Windows) to disable them. That will let you know if it is the source of the problem. Otherwise, you can provide more information here, like what kind of hosting you're using, and others might be able to offer additional suggestions. Hope that helps.

Re: HTTP ERROR 500

I ended up calling customer service and they restored a backup of a few days ago so my site is back.  I don't know what happened but hopefully it is fixed.
